What would I do if I won the lottery? I've been asked this question many times and I've sat and thought about the possibilities many times too. I guess the extent of my possibilities would depend on just how much but the first thing I would do is pay off my student loans. I'll be paying these off until I'm old and gray(er) so these would be the first to go. After that I would build my dream home some where by the water. At times, I would love to quit working but I would have to find something to do or I would drive myself crazy. I would love to make photography a part-time job and have an art studio in my home where that would be part-time as well and make my living that way. Not having to punch a time clock and being able to make my own hours would be wonderful! I've always wanted an iMac computer so if I'm going to make photography a career then I would most certainly need that for photo editing. After all that is taken care of and I have bought a new car (specifics not yet determined) and put away enough to live comfortably, I would take care of my family as much as I could and help them live comfortably as well. Again, this all depends on just how much the pot would be, but ideally I'd love to give them all a nice nest egg. If only....

I skipped yesterday's challenge mainly because I really could not come up with something for my first celebrity crush. I don't even have a clue, to be honest. I know that at one point I liked Christian Slater and had magazine pictures up on my wall of him, but I wouldn't really call it a crush, but oh well.
Moving on to today's topic...my most proud moment. I don't know if I can pick just one moment, but becoming an aunt for the first and second time was by far a very proud moment and I continue to be proud every time I hear my niece or nephew say Aunt Kristy. Along those same lines was they day my nephew was baptized and I got to stand up with him and hold him as his Godmother. The older I get, the more I'm not certain if I want to have children of my own, but I love that I can be a role model and play such an important part in their lives. Day 9 of the Blog Challenge is Piercing and Tattoos. I'll start with piercings because I don't have as many. I've got both ears pierced and my cartilage on my right ear pierced. I have a second hole on each ear, but I don't wear a lot of earrings in those so they've pretty much closed. I have my belly button pierced but took that out a year or so ago. I would love to get that pierced again though. I used to think it would be super cute to have a small diamond in my nose, but I think that ship has sailed.
I've got a total of 5 tattoos currently but would love to get more. All of them are small so they're relatively easy to cover. The first tattoo I ever got was a blue butterfly on the small of my back. The next one was the Kanji symbol for strength with a pink star. I thought the symbol was too plain so I added the pink star. On a trip to Florida visiting my old friend from grade school, I got a star on my wrist. A couple years later while on a family trip, I met up with the same friend and got a decorative cross on the top of my foot. Last but not least, was a phrase on my ribs...Hope anchors the soul. I took that from a Bible verse that I like...Hebrews 6:19. I've got the itch for more, but we'll see how that goes. They're not exactly cheap! Stop back tomorrow for Day 1o of the Challenge...1st Celebrity Crush. Hmmm... Today's blog post could quite possibly be one of the hardest ones for me complete. Most of you that know me really well, know my love of food and just how large my appetite is, so to come up with 10 of my favorite foods...? This wasn't all that easy, but here goes. Not all of them are technically "food", because I've added a couple snacks and candy in there as well because I can't talk about things I love to eat without mentioning candy.
This might come as a surprise to some of you, but a few of you know that I am a huge fan of Downton Abbey on PBS. I was always into the more modern, contemporary side of art and design and History was probably my least favorite subject in school; but as I've gotten older my tastes have changed and I find myself gravitating more towards more vintage decor and design and am fascinated with the history.
Last year I visited my aunt in North Carolina and I describe that trip as an eye-opener for me. Not only because it was right in the middle of my divorce, but that's when I knew and understood that things really do happen for a reason and felt an overwhelming sense of peace. Then we went to The Biltmore Estate. I had always wanted to visit because of it's history, but it wasn't until I actually go there that I became so fascinated with the history behind it and wanted to learn everything about it. I had heard about Downton Abbey and wanted to watch it to see what all the fuss was about so I rented the first season from the library and immediately was hooked. In the next couple of weeks, I watched all 4 seasons before the 5th season started on PBS. If you haven't seen this show, it starts out in 1912 when the sinking of the Titanic happens. It follows the story of the Crawley family and the future of their home (Downton Abbey) and the lives of their servants. If you're into history or just want to check out a new show, I highly recommend it. Before I actually watched it and before my trip to North Carolina, I probably would not have been as interested in it, but all it takes is one "eye-opener" to see things a little differently and I was hooked! Thanks for stopping by my page and if you want to check out The Biltmore Estate, I linked it above and if you want to check out Downton Abbey, the new episodes are on Sunday nights at 9:00 p.m. on PBS. My dad is one of nine children and with that comes a large family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Our family is constantly growing and we currently are at 100 members and counting. Since our family has grown so much, it's hard to find a house that's large enough to fit us all in for family gatherings and with everyone being married and having families of their own, we don't have our Christmas Eve get together like we used to. We do have the evening dessert gathering on holidays now, but my earliest memories are of being at my Grandma and Grandpa's house on holidays and Sundays for pasta dinners. All the cousins played on the steps and in the basement and were running all over the house while the adults were upstairs talking and sometimes playing cards; euchre specifically. That's how I learned to play and it is still my favorite card game to play.
As soon as you walked in, all you could smell was the pasta cooking on the stove with the meatballs and Italian sausage. It was heavenly and I can still smell it to this day. While the grandparents worked on the food, we would pass by and grab a meatball or a piece of soft, white bread and dip it in the sauce! I remember when I was old enough to help with the dinner preparations and my cousin and I were in charge of putting the meatballs on the platter to serve. Let's just say we overloaded the platter and the next thing you know there were meatballs all over the floor in the basement. (Along with being a goofball, I am also somewhat of a klutz.) But we were able to laugh at it and it's still a funny story to tell. Those Sunday dinners don't happen anymore, but I will never forget the way the house smelled, the sound of all of us talking over each other in that small house and the laughing that all of us did. I would love to go back to those days, but as the saying goes "Life goes on" and that's what has happened. Everyone's families are growing and they all have so much going on in their lives, but we can still get together on the holidays and laugh and have such a great time like we never missed a beat. Those are the best days! Thank you for stopping by my page and stay tuned tomorrow for Day 5 of the challenge...My Guilty Pleasure. I'm sure a lot of you are wondering what the title of my blog means or how I came up with it. With the help of my two friends Kara and Liz (check out their blogs) that are taking part in this blog challenge with me, we came up with Sparkles, Sweat & Sarcasm. I tend to have a Type A personality so I was wanting to come up with something where all the words started with the same letter. I have a love for all things glittery and sparkly and a while back my instagram name was sparklesandsweat. Liz's suggestion was to try that name and it just seemed incomplete for a blog title. Sweat came from my love of fitness and working out; and with my Italian background, I sweat like nobody's business. So after coming up with a number of "S" words to describe myself, I stumbled upon sarcasm and they both thought that was fitting for me. If you know me well then you know my love of sarcasm and the fact that I use it on a daily basis. And before you even think that me being sarcastic means that I'm not friendly or serious, think again. I know how to be serious when I need to be, but life's too short to not have a little fun and laugh; and that's just what I try to do every day...LAUGH!!! Most days it's laughing at myself because I'm such a goofball, but if you can't laugh at yourself, what kind of fun is that?! I like the combination of the Sparkles and Sweat because it also describes how I can be very girly at times and love everything pink and sparkly, but I'm also a tomboy as well and love to play sports and get a good sweat on! So there you have it...the birth of my blog title!! Come back tomorrow for Day 4 of the challenge...earliest childhood memory.
