Today's blog post could quite possibly be one of the hardest ones for me complete. Most of you that know me really well, know my love of food and just how large my appetite is, so to come up with 10 of my favorite foods...? This wasn't all that easy, but here goes. Not all of them are technically "food", because I've added a couple snacks and candy in there as well because I can't talk about things I love to eat without mentioning candy.
- Sushi - This one, I'm sure, is not surprise to many of you. I could literally eat sushi every day of the week. I love to try new sushi restaurants and have found quite a few that I love, but the best ones seem to be the smallest little restaurants. I like to try new rolls when I'm out and will try just about anything. I do, however, not eat any of them with eel in them. I tried it a few years back and I think it's a texture thing, but that I just can't do. Eel sauce? Yes, I like that, but the eel itself? No thanks. There are always plenty of other rolls on the menu to try.
- Spaghetti & Meatballs - This one should also be no surprise to many of you since I come from a large Italian family and used to have pasta dinners on Sundays. I do need to mention that I'm very picky with the spaghetti and meatballs that I like. I have tried many places, but nothing compares to my Grandma and Grandpa or my Dad's spaghetti and meatballs. They've passed down the recipe to us kids and I'll make it, but nothing is as good as theirs with the soft Italian bread and ricotta cheese on top. That, to me, is the epitome of comfort food.
- Pizza - I think this one is probably a favorite for many people, but I literally crave pizza. Being single and trying to watch my weight, I don't eat much of it and refuse to waste the money on ordering a pizza so I typically will buy Totino's frozen pizza and I'm totally fine with that because it's so good and just right amount...and it's only like $1.50! I will eat just about anything on my pizza, but when it comes to personal preference, I'm just like Kevin MacAllister on Home Alone..."a plain cheese pizza, just for me!"
- Pancakes - Most of these foods are loaded with carbs...are you sensing a pattern here? I really do eat a lot of healthy foods, but when it comes to my favorites, carbs are where it's at. I love to eat breakfast food for dinner and pancakes are perfect. There's just something about the fluffy, vanilla flavored taste of pancakes. You can add fruit, syrup, chocolate chips, just about anything you can think of. And they're actually perfect to freeze and warm up in the microwave and slather peanut butter on them for a breakfast on-the-go.
- Mashed potatoes - These really need no description other than the fact that you can put butter and sour cream in them and pour gravy all over them and just enjoy! I prefer to eat them with meatloaf or beef and noodles or pot roast, but I really could eat them with just about anything. Am I making you hungry yet??
- Luna bars - These are my all-time favorite snack. I have eaten one of these bars a day for well over a year. They come in so many delicious flavors and are nutrition bars for women, so they're healthy for you. They just came out with a Chocolate Cupcake flavor and that is all I buy now. It's perfect for someone with a sweet tooth like me that's going to give up sweets for Lent.
- Nut Thins - I'm the type of person that loves to snack and could sit and eat an entire bag of chips without even thinking about it until I feel sick after. I discovered these about a year ago and these Cheddar ones are so good! They don't come in a very big box, but they are perfect for snacking.
- Gummi worms and bears - I'm not entirely sure when I picked up these for the first time, but it was dangerous. I don't know if it's the gummi texture or what, but these and cinnamon bears are my go-to sweet treat (that is not chocolate). Enough said.
- Rolo's - To completely satisfy my sweet tooth I have to include chocolate and, for me, this is the perfect combination of two of my favorite things...chocolate and caramel. There's no better combination on the face of the Earth.
- P.F. Chang's Lettuce wraps - The first time I had these, I was hooked. I will go here just to have the lettuce wraps. I have the recipe to make these, but something tells me they won't be as good.
