Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I last posted and I have been wanting to do a monthly favorites post so I thought today would be a good day for that since I am off work early and finally have time to sit down and type up a decent post. I have included a few beauty items, food items and just things that I have been using a lot lately including a D.I.Y. recipe for makeup remover that I discovered and saves me money.
1. House of Cards -- I made the bold decision to go without cable when I moved in March; I work two jobs and am hardly ever home so it just seemed like a wasted expense to me and to be honest I really do not miss it very much. I did however decided to get internet so that I could still continue to blog and so that I could watch Netflix. So I jumped on the bandwagon and decided to give this show a try and let me just tell you that when I did watch t.v. this was the only thing I watched. I binge watched this show until I got to the last episode. So now I"m all done with it and I need another good series to watch...if any of you have any good ideas for some shows/series that you really like, please leave it in the comments below.
2. Matcha --If you like green tea then you will like this, I promise! It's super cheap to order (the girl knows me now when I go and she actually gives it to me for free). SCORE!! Check out this article if you're wondering more about this. I can't get enough of it. My friends at work call it grass water, but I LOVE it!!
3. Spring Nailpolish --Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure is my go-to nailpolish and my favorite formula as far as application goes and my favorite shade right now is the one shown above...#845 Slice of Sunset. It's the perfect neon coral shade for spring and I don't normally wear colors on my nails but I get a lot of compliments on it when I do wear it.
4. Nut-Thins -- I typically crave sweets more than salty things, but when I do have a craving for chips or something salty I reach for these. They're made from almonds and are wheat and gluten free. They're so good and just the right amount of flavor and crunch and get the job done when it comes to satisfying my savory craving.
5. Oatmeal -- If you know me well then you know that I eat A LOT through out the day. I get hungry for something typically every 2-3 hours. It's hard for me to find something to have for breakfast that is quick, but that keeps me full longer than an hour. I discovered this combination that I have almost every day now. I cook some oatmeal or steel cut oats and mix in a scoop of White Chocolate Wonderful Peanut Butter and a packet of Stevia. I sprinkle some cinnamon on top and add a handful of fresh blueberries and either almonds or walnuts. TWO THUMBS UP for this combo and I'm loving it!!
6. Recovery drink -- Since I tend to work out in the evening when I get home from work, this recovery powder is perfect because you take it 30 minutes before bedtime. It has melatonin in it and I have to tell you that it totally works! I sleep so well and I don't wake up as sore as I used to when I didn't take any recovery drink. My brother picked it up for me from the Arnold a few weeks back and I love this stuff!
7. Watts Up! -- This little beauty is from Benefit Cosmetics and I got the sample size when I bought a kit almost two years ago and I still have a lot of it left. It's an allover highlighter, but I use it mainly on the inner corners of my eyes and it instantly makes me look awake and and I just like the way that it looks. It's perfect for those days where you wake up with tired eyes and didn't get much sleep the night before.
8. D.I.Y. Makeup Remover -- I usually buy the Pond's makeup remover wipes from the store or whatever is on sale at the time that I need them and they typically only have 25 or 30 wipes in the package. So I did some research and came up with a couple alternatives. I will either use straight coconut oil (that stuff is a miracle product if you haven't tried it...check out the tons of uses for it in this article) or I use this recipe that I found with only 3 ingredients...
1/4 cup water
2 teaspoons baby shampoo
2 teaspoons olive oil
Combine everything into a small container. I use the travel containers that you buy at the store to put mine in. All you have to do is shake it before you use it and then put a little bit on a cotton pad or ball and just a little bit remove an entire face of makeup. I don't have to buy the wipes near as much and it saves me a little bit of money.
